Motorcycle Accessories
Riding a motorcycle is more of a sport than driving a car – as any motorcyclist would tell you – it is a passion to ride a bike, whatever the category – from cruisers to dirt bikes. Motorcycling gives an immense sense of freedom to the people who enjoy it. Like every other form of freedom, motorcycling comes with its responsibilities. There are two kinds of motorcycle accessories you could consider for you and your bike – one for safety and the other for style!
Motorcycle Safety Accessories
Your safety comes first, always – over style and even over performance. You could install motorcycle accessories as simple as a crash guard, to avoid the weight of your bike on your legs in case you ever fall, worst case scenario (cheerful aren’t we!). This of course, is not a factor unless you have a heavy cruise machine. Extra grips on your handgrips are another simple and cheap motorcycle accessory that give you comfort during long rides. Do make sure you have high quality rear view mirrors – make sure they are concaved. Many of the cheap imported ones have great looking housings, but low quality mirrors. A chain guard does not come as a factory attachment on many machines, and you would do well to install one – it will prolong the life of your chain and sprocket by keeping out the grime and weather elements. If you have a cruiser, you may often take long rides, maybe even cross country, and if you do you probably carry some luggage…in this case, you shouldn’t load the vehicle in such a way as to ruin its balance – that’s downright dangerous! The best way is to install saddle bags on either side and distribute the luggage equally on both sides. I cannot stress the importance of this. Finally, never ever forget the helmet – get a good brand.
Motorcycle Style accessories
Most of the safety oriented motorcycle safety accessories mentioned above – extra grips, mirrors, helmets and saddle bags are not only catalysts that improve the performance of a motorcycle, but they make great style statements as well! Adding a side stand can give you that classic stylish parking feel….when you fix it for the first time, you may grope with your toe for it, but soon it becomes a part of you – as you step off the bike and ‘side-stand’ it with one slick move! Gloves are a great style accessory, and they also improve grip, especially for these who sweat a lot on their hands.
Brands like Harley Davidson offer everything from the motorcycles themselves to gloves, jackets and cigarette lighters (in collaboration with Zippo), all class A motorcycle style accessories. A styled seat can add a great touch to any motorcycle. If you prefer the vintage feel on a cruiser, you could install two separate seats – ever seen a Triumph with a big single seat with springs under it? Feels great, and gives that charming 40s feel.
